The noctilucent clouds shines down on Lagan as it flows through the landscape outside the town of Ljungby as the sun is about to rise again... oh how wonderful they are, these midsummer nights...

A Thunderstorm over the danish island Zealand gave me the immense pleasure of standing on the beach just north of the scanianvillage of Viken just outside the reach of the storms rain… Hardly any wind… just me, the silent lapping of the ocean on the beach and the distant rumble of the thunder… Absolutely stunning!!

I love thunderstorms and photographing lightning… something I’ve not been able to do much this year despite very promising stormcells and what not that I’ve chased on a few occasions… But they’ve all been during the day with all the action hidden under very heavy rain or they have dissipated as soon as it was getting close to my chosen location… Very frustrating… So this is a shot from 2019, a much more prosperous year from the lightning photography viewpoint :)

The first capture of Noctilucent Clouds for the summer of 2018… a very nice night out that ended with a sweet in the middle of the night swim!

I was out hoping to capture some cool lightning shots but the thunderstorms this day was extremely high precipitation. And I was standing there all ready getting a bit frustrated of all the rain… then all of a sudden… a ray of sunlight breaks through and for the first time in my life I found myself looking down at a rainbow. So glad I didn’t give up and packed up my gear into the car…

You never know when the light comes and brightens up your day…
